Club 709 This night club is listed in the Green Book at 709 Patterson Avenue, Winston-Salem. The student report identifies this property as the still-extant FY0831 A. Robinson Building, which was listed to the National Register in 1998, but the Final List identifies it as demolished. The nomination says nothing about a night club having ever occupied this building. Additionally, the 1958 Sanborn map shows a "(colored)" restaurant occupying the adjacent lot at 701-703 Patterson Avenue, which would seem more naturally to house a night club. Perhaps the address numbers changed? Perhaps the Green Book address represents the owner address – if both buildings were owned in tandem? If the true location of Club 709 was on the corner, then it has been surveyed as the FY2156 Hall Building, but is no longer extant. —Andrew S.
