Coral Motor Court This motel is listed in the Green Book along US 301, 3 miles south of Fayetteville. The 1959 City Directory lists three motels (Ambassador Motel, McInnis Motel, Tolar's Tourist Court) along Gillespie Street and one motel (Holiday Motel) along the 2600 block of Eastern Boulevard, both of which formed – and currently form – portions of US 301. The 1963 City Directory lists ten motels and motor courts within the 2200-2700 blocks of Gillespie Street. Four have been demolished (Ambassador, McInnis, Coachman's Lodge Motel, and Lawson Motel). Six are still extant (Tolar's, Highland Court Motel, Americana Lodge, Howard Johnson's, Bel Aire Motel, and Driftwood Motor Lodge), though I could find no record of any of them going by the Coral Motor Court name. A student has indicated there was an advertisement for the property on "page 72", though I cannot find it within any of the Green Books. A photograph would be useful! —Andrew S. Edmonds
