Evening Breeze Motel Based on newspaper reports from 1963 and 1977, as well as a property deed, I was able to confirm that the Evening Breeze Motel – listed in the Green Book "On U.S. Hiway 70, 3 miles east connecting 64 & 21, Statesville" – is still extant. "T.V. Mangum, Negro businessman, today tossed his hat into the local political ring in a bid for the Ward Two position on city council. He is manager of Peterson & Mangum Funeral Home. He is also owner of the Evening Breeze Motel and Grill on Salisbury Road." (Statesville Record & Landmark, 3/2/63) The Iredell County Register of Deeds Book 664, Page 527 references T.V.
