Columbia civil rights leader Modjeska Simkins was a co-owner of this motel. The Green Book publishers recommended this site themselves, describing it as "quiet, beautiful- ideal for honeymooners." Motel Simbeth was the only Columbia site to receive endorsement from the publishers. Its exact address is unknown, but was likely at the intersection of Two Notch Road and I-20.
