Mrs. Fannie Jeffries Tourist Home This house is listed in the Green Book on Mill Street, Whiteville, while in the 1963 City Directory it is listed at 103 Powell Street. The description of Powell Street in the directory – From Clarence south, 1 east of Franklin – is a bit perplexing (Clarence is a continuation of Commerce, stated elsewhere), but places the house somewhere near and south of Mill Street in a semi-developed area adjacent to the current Power Station Street. The Sanborn maps show some houses here, but do not show Powell Street. —Andrew S. Edmonds
