I will take this privlege of writing to let you all know that i am well at this time and hope this may find you all the same I recive a leter this weak from you and the one that you sent in the in the leter it speak of minisoty and of the land and how we can git land it dont soot me it is to much for his one pocket he says if i dont think that i can come out next fual not to send any money well i dont think i can and if / I cood i wouted send a sent out thare on till i saw the cuntry mi self I want to save all the money that i can and if i live throe this war i think i can do beter than to go thar wen this war ends thare will be lots of land sold in the south and will sell sheap I have seen lots of farm in this cuntry if i had tham thang wold be good a nuff and land is cheep it is worth from 6 to 15 per acre
at this time i am detaild with 7 eathers to run a fery boat a cross the river it is tolerble hard / work but i likt it beter than to stand picket we git all the money that the siticen pays that is a nuf for us to spend thare is lots of solgers marching from knox vill to dalten thay are looking for a fight thare it is 90 mils from here thare is but one rigement here be sides the 50 thay have all gon to that place I dont know how long that i will git to help run the boat but i hope how long it may last that leter you sent i have lost it wright soon
