Friends Both old and young
                        Well I recived your letter last night and was glad to hear you all was well and hope thes few lines will find still the same when you get it for it leaves me so at presant
 
Well you said that James R. said that I would be at home this weeak jest tell him if he cant lye down hear enough without going home to do the same that he had never oughto go again dont bleave one word he sayes for he will tell a lye when the truth would fetch him 3 dolars for he has the name of the Brigade lyer down hear and if I dont get home till I get down on my knees or kiss some damed Generals ass I never shall come home  for I never have done it nor never shall do it eather it makes me mad to hear of the damed lyer that Sehatch imp tells up there if you berlive half he ses you will bea out some
 
Well about Ragina Crown I once thoght she was somebodey and I thoght that would bea as good way to find her out so I jest sent her a few lines to see what she was maid of so I am satisfied that what Erasterst loied told me was trew for he said she was very base in her ways of geting a living and now I am sates that she is to mean to be called Sister or eney thing elce but what is bad to bad for eney one but her to bare she is beaneth my notes or a dogs all thoe I aint much beter She has no hart jest see how she has cared sail sence Jack went into the armey I am well posted in her corse from the time Jack enlisted in to the Armey I no every thing she has done that is mean and she never does eney good that is sirten all that I can say for her is that she is a base woman to base to be called woman Give her my most humbel Cursings
 
            Well about coming home this winter it is all day with me for I cant com so dont whine about it no more you said you was drafted what in the Malishey I supose so I sent you an order to draw $2.50 dolars from Brandon let me no if you get it or not so I can see what to do dont say eney thing to Goshen about it till they pay you in Brandon I sent for a box Send it jest as soon as you can if you haint when you get this letter send six or 8 pound of fine cut tobaco bound papores and if you get /
 
Get the bounty bfore you send it send I dont care if you send 12 or 15 pounds of tobaco for it is pirty scarse hear it will fetch twice hear what it will up there
 
if you get the money you had beter get the dead of the plase Pay up for the plase. Have the dead signed over to mother and put the rest in the bank or use it if you wanto do as you air aminto with the rest of it you had beter make them to horses pay ther keeping this winter if you can Well there aint no signs of geting payed of hear They ow ous 4 months pay and 150 dolars bounty most 5 months pay Where is Mary Jones Father where does she make it her home this winter how does George get along What is Elen Naylor doing and all of James famley Where does Granmother live this winter What is Edward Wood doing this winter Alvira &c &c &c
