I now seat myself to write another line to let you know that I am still alive I have nothing of importance to write at this time I was surprised to learn that G Brant and J A Harlan was married that is all right I have just heard that Richmond was taken with a large number of prisoners but I have no idea that it is true it is most / to good news to be true I think if it is so the Southern Confederacy is about played out I think L B must be bad off for some person to go with her I saw a little old Nigger at Florence that would suit her for size he was about 2½ feet high I asked him how old he was but he said he did not know and most of the Negroes dont know thair own names The weather is very warm down here grain is begining to color Strawburys are / ripe and the cherries are red I did hear that General Negley & Col Hambright of the 79th OV was to report at Washington by the first of July to go into the regular service and I also heard that Negleys Division was to be discharged but I guess there is no truth in the report I expect we will not be here very long but it is hard to tell where we will go to Well Love I cant think of any thing more to write at present in your next / let me know all the news be sure and write soon I got a letter from Ruth the same day I got yours and I must write her one Well love I must bring this baly badly blotted letter to a close Write soon my love and bear in mind that this is from your true Lover.
