Dear mother i take the pleasuere of riting you a fiew lines i have never got my money yet but i think i will get it in a fiew days i went to draw it this morning but they dint have it now but the captain sed he would git it in a fiew day an i will send it home i sent you five dollars by lutenant moore on this letter rite to me how you are geting a long send it by moore i may get the chance to come home be fore long i will rite very often now this is the first letter i have rote to you i will rite soon i have nothing to rite
