Dear mother i take the pleasure of riting you a fiew lines to let you no that we was all well at this time an i hope these fiew lines may find you all the same al thought i heard that father had bin sick an sick yet an bin sick for a long time i will send you fifteen dollars in this letter now we will draw in a short time an i will send you some more money then i have nothing of importance to rite tell all the children how for me tell mr burnside people howdy for me tell Julia an poss an oat howdy billy an thomas howdy harry an mont an estell all howdy for me there are about one hundred thousand soldiers here at this place i dont have any idea when we will git in a fight the union men is fiting the yankee in louisville nothing more at present i will rite soon you must rite
