Dr Father
I write in haste and will start for northern Texas in a few days probably on Thursday. I have been ordered to report to Brig Genl Bunkhead Comdg Northern Texas and will be stationed in Fanin County or Dallas. I will pass through Titus with my family to see you, will be there about the 6th of July. I am acting Chief Quartermaster of the Northern Dist of Texas. Give my love to all. I have deferred writing for some time supposing I would have started before this—

I enclose you one hundred dollars part payment on the many hundreds or incalculable amount that I owe you—though money could never place me out of your debt.

Tell Wm Henry & Miranda folks that I will be through to see them Give Emma my love when you write.

Affectionately your son.
Eda Burk
