Miss Minnie Sherman,
I take the liberty to address you a few lines. I saw you at a clam-bake last Summer at Luther's Corner and was much pleased with your appearance although I did not have the pleasure of an introduction I should have tried meet you again but my Furlough expired and I had to return and therefore did not have the pleasure of seeing you again. I was in the Quarter-Masters Department of Gen. Hookers' division when I was north on a furlough last Summer. But after the rebels were driven from Maryland I was transfered to the Quarter Masters' Department in Washington I belong in Providence and shall be on home again some time / next Summer if nothing happens to detain me. I can get away much better than last Summer if I stay here in Washington. I hope you will take no offence at the Liberty I have taken to addres you. take it as a token of Friendship. All coraspondence strictly confidential. Until I hear from you
