Dear Sister
I take my pen in to address you a few lines.
I am well at present and hope when they come to hand they may find you in good health Our regiment arrive here yesterday morning after being on the way from Huttonville 12 days.
We got a good dinner in Louisville yesterday I heard that pa was here and I allowed to go and see him but the Col says the regiment he is in is still down at salt river. but I expect we / will see the 37th before long I did think we would get furloughs this winter but I dont see any chance now
I want you to write and let me know if you got a couple of plans of camps i sent you or not And you must do the best you can this winter. I dont expect to be at home untill the war closes and God only knows when that will be. We have had a very hard time so far and I see nothing but hard times a head the snow is about two inches deep this morning Tell Lina and rachel to be good girls and sometimes think of brother George and write as often as you can and tell all of the friends to write to me
I have not had time to write for the last 12 days and have not received any letters I expect I will get several when the mail catches up
But I must quit writing for this time. Give my love to Mother and Grandfather and Mother and all the rest of the Folks. Direct to Louisville Ky
