Dear Niece
          I take opportunity to send you a few lines that leaves us all well except father he has not ben well for three months and for the last fifteen or twenty days he has ben very sick. I would come down before now if he had ben well but now I do not know when I will be down. the boys has all gone to the war here thay is only 3 or 4 boys left on otter Creeke thay is not more one young man left to every seven girles so you see husbands is not so plenty I expect Mary Goss told you about her wedding when she was down her and ben Hobbs was promised and the day [paper hole] / set and supper prepared but Mr Hobbs did not come up she told me the next day she did not care for thay was plenty more she thought more of than she did of him he went to war in a few days we have not got a letter from your father for about 2 months I do not know what the reason is he dose not write I have not got but one from George since last December I would like to know when you heaird from them next time you write to George tell him that he might write to his uncle once or twice a year the 17 reg was taken prisoners I do not no wheather thay was all taken or not the 68 was taken at the same time Wall Williams Marke and Joseph Roberson Lewis Peterman and a greate many more from a round here / was in the 68 I want you to come out and fetch out Liney and Rachel tell Rachel I want her to husk corn alittle better this winter than she did last if you dont come out soon write and tell me all the news
 
I have nothing to write worth telling I had to set up with father to knight and I thought I would write you afew lines
