I was indeed glad to hear from you= And pleased to learn that you was doing so well= you should be thankful that it is no worse= I am for you= Keep your spirits up= And remember that you "recepted in full" the damage done you= By sending some Rebel to Eturnity.

George. W. Young is a Copal in my Company= he has now been in the Army 26 months and never has been at home. I desire you to use all means to get him a Furlough= he is a good man= And I think it would be better for him to go home=say twenty or thirty days= You can place all confidence in whatever he may promise you= By so doing you will oblige your Friend

I was within twenty miles of Chattanooga on last Monday night= But we had to slip out easey= On Sunday night we paid our Respects to old Dechard Burnt Depo & Bridge= tore up a half mile Rail Road track= Burnt three large depoes of Commissary stores of all Kinds and captured twenty Rebs=I am taking good care of your Horse= no one shall use her=write me soon W. A. Owens
