Dear Sister
I take my pen in hand to address you a few lines hopeing they may find you in good health and spirits. I am well as usual myself

well rebecca you sent me a pretty hard letter but I suppose you had a right to for I have not written you but 4 letters with this one since I have been in kentucky but I have written to all of you / together several times but no more excuses. pardon this time and I will write oftener in future

The last letter I got was from Uncle John about one week ago. there appears to be a little difficulty among some of the boys in the shape of states cases and I am afraid if the boys dont mind they will have to suffer such punishment as a general court martial sees fit to inflict useing a military phrase. I am afraid it will go pretty hard with hank.

Well the girls has all quit writing to me. I am very sorry but I suppose as the dutch says it will save der postage monies any way

you said George Webster intend to publish my letters and will / what kind of letters to write to the french gentlemen after this

Well Rebecca to day is the prettiest day we have had since we have been in Kentucky we have taken away our tents to let our feather beds sun and I am laying on a blanket writing.

we heard the other day that Old Zollicoffer was killed and I think we will go out and clean Old buckner out some of those days and you know it wont be long before we all get home for our time is nearly out as we only have 2 years and a few months to serve. I got a letter from Gordon and black and mose a few days ago and they had come out safe so far

Tell lina and all the rest of the little folks to be good girls and tell fred I will bring them him enough Secesh buttons for to put on a coat for him

Sister please excuse this writing I dont expect you can read it at all give my love to all and write as often as you can

from your Affectionate brother
George W Young
