George W. Young to Rebecca B. Young, 25 March 186X
Camp Andrew Jackson Tenn
March the 25th 186[?]

Dear sister I take my pen in hand this evening to address you a few lines hopeing they may find you in good health I am in tolerable good health at present except a bad cold which I have been troubled with for nearly a month we are still encamped near nashville and I expect we will stay here for nearly all the troops have left here except our brigade and I wish we would stay here for I had rather be out of the scrape entirely than to have it said we are always in the rear which we certainly have been / for a long time

Well to day is sunday and the assembly call has just sounded for church and it appears to me there is meeting Concord to day and if there is i would rather be there than to soldier in tennessee a month of sundays

Well Rebecca I have quit writing to the women and the women have quit writing to me and I have forgotten all of them and hope they have all forgotten me which I think is altogether probable

we have just drawn a suit of clothes skye blue we have had one mail captured by the cecesh on the L.N. railroad and consequently have not got any mail / for a long time but I heard the Jacob Strader landed at Nashville today and I think she brought us some mail

I wrote a letter to uncle milt and one to mother but I dont expect they ever went for the mail has been robbed two or three times

I think the war will be over in two or 3 months at least I hope so for I dont want to be down here during the heat of summer

Well I must close for this time Give my love to all and write as often as you can no more at present but remain

Your Affectionate brother
G.W. Young
