My Dear Emelia
                                    I received your kind letter this morning. I should have wrote you by this mornings mail but could not get down to the office. I was glad enough to get your letter I hope you will always write me when you can I have got along first rate and I truley think I shall make a good soldier I shall be at home Saturday if possible and will tell you about the needle book. I / bunk with Mr Gleason. I shall try to get a furlow till after the fair Bakers folks have gone and Hat thinks Nel will be out next week. I have sold the little colt to Henry Gulick and I want the old mare turned into Tollmans field after I get home. Things look my dear wife that we must be hopefull and do our duty. I love you all the more since you freeley gave me up for liberty for all mankind. The news from N.H. is sad Kiss the children for me God bless you my dear wife Ever your true husband
