My own dear Wife
I wrote you about a week ago and since then I received a letter from you and Mr Campbell which done me much good though I have woreyed some about the baby as you said he was not very well I hope he is better. First I wish to say to you my dear Wife and to my brother Mr C. that I have heard nothing in regard to your liveing together from Brown Mudgett Millard & Co. and I should have cared nothing about it if I had, so dont you be troubled in the least either of you but let them talk if they wish. I want Mr Campbell to stay there as long as he possibley can and he wrote me in his letter that / he might not leave in the spring I hope he will not, but will stay till I get home, give him a brothers regards for me. I will write him next mail. I wish to speak about your finding seed for Wagner. I did not agree to find any seed, but told him if you let him have any seed you was to have half the cropp as far as you found seed and one third as far as he found seed. I write this for by the way you wrote I thought you expected to find half the seed. I am glad you keep books I shall learn of you and do the same if I get home. McLeish has not come yet but we look for him every day now. I hope the things will come all right for I shall enjoy them so much I am glad you have milk now I wish I was there to enjoy it with / you. I am glad you are going to raise the calves I think as soon as they are old enough to wean you had better get them pastured if you can as you will not be so likely to lose them. I would have them all marked with a W cut in the ear then you can swear to them have the last years calves marked the same. Have you found the red heifer. I like to have you write about the cows calves pigs &c. I dont write any thing about the war and I dont care to hear any thing about it. I shall send this by Mr. Bissell of Dewitt he came down about 2 weeks ago and brought lots of things to the Dewitt boys Dont worey about me Emelia but take things as cool as you can. dont be troubled about my things I / shall get along. I have a good coat & pants and shall have a chance to get the other things Write me about the colts. I must close as Mr. Bissell will start soon give my fondest regards to all friends and kiss the children for me
