                        Dear Lib I will start a nother letter this morning I feal very well to day bot I dont gain strength a bit I have herd from the reg john smith come here he shot him self threw the foot with his revolver he ses that capt vaughan is sick he ses that our docter poisend too men to deth threw a mistake he draud some medison to opelousas he thought he drawed cadeen and it was mawfeen so when it come night the 2 serg in co I wanted some medison and the docter give him mawfen and thought it was cadeen and he give another felow some in co D I know boath of them merten tented with one of them next morning they dident wake up to role call and the boys tried to wake them up and they could not do it and the docter come and shure anough they was ded dear Lib haint that affle there has some more sick come from the reg this morning they say that the reg is going to port hodsen know I guess our men means to take evry thing this spring make a clean swep that is the way to do it I think that dear evry thing looks faiverbol for pooting down this rebellion I will send you a peace printed in the south I think it is abought so I wish you would send it to rosailia I took it out of the yesterday era I think I shal get some male to night I eat up the last / of my straw bery sauce last night and I guess I shant live so well know as I have I dont want to eat up my black beris till I get where abe is so we can poot our beris and curents to gether and they will be better dear lib how good the straw beris was I have thought of you evry time I eat and I eat of them evry meal well and I dont feal very to day I have got the diree agane and I am very weak if I can get it cured agane I will try and be more carefoll I dont eat eny thing only a small slise of toasted bread and if I get well I shant eat eny thing only toasted bread the docter ses I mut not eat eny thing only toasted bread all this somer that will be hard for me for I am youse to eating pork and beans I never had fried pork tast so good as it dos hear and it will be most impossible for me to give it up bot I know I most for my helth there is some men here in camp know that has got to dy they have got the blody disentery it is caused by eating it / sotch warm wether here that a man blod is thin all the time and what is binding up in that cold contry will cause diree here cheer or blackbery pie will cause diree so you can see that a man has to be dredfol carefol and he will get tierd of that sometimes we have to drink watter hear that I would hate to wash in to home I drink tea evry meal the tea you sent me is dredfol good tea cost 2.00 per pound hear and not very good at that dear Lib I did not get eny letters last night I am a fraid I shant get eny letters while I am hear the male goes right to the reg and I guess abe will send my letters back to me john smith brought me a paper and the paper had some yarn in I cant think what you wanted to send me eny yarn for I sepose you sent a letter the time that I did not get if there is eny letters for me I guess the capt has got them I expected to get a gold pen from you before this time if you nead not send haint sent them you nead not send me eny holder but send me a pen I got another paper last night mackpharison has wrote another letter what do you think abought his letters I will send you the paper the boat I come down in from washington when I was sick ron against a snag the other day and sank the name of her is Sheldon you will see it in the paper dear lib I think you had better send me some writing paper by it jest as it comes from new york by fore or five quire and some invelops to paper cost 40 cents a quire hear and it is poor at that and I have had by considerble / the boys have had paper sent to them in that way and it want mesed up a bit get it as cheap as you can and when it gets hear if I dont want it all I can sell some bot I can poot it in the capt trunk and keep it knice dear lib you can see that the last half of this letter is rote the best I got a knew pen this morning steel pens dont last long though I have to have my mosquitoes bar up know they are a fine thing here the mosquitoes is so affle thick I can ly and hear them boze bot they could not get to me I think if I could only have my dear lib with me wouldent we have fun I am some as Charly walch sed he ses it is bothering me considerble bot I will try and stand it bot I could not stand it long if I was to home would you I guess I had not better finish this letter till to morow there haint no male going out till the 21 I have wrote to will get some to night I sent you a paper yesterday there is lots of darkes coming in hear evry day what a looking sight the childrin and wiming all come some has got white hare all collers and it is
