Dear Lib I will try and write a little more this morning I maled a letter yesterday morning and I forgot to nomber it this will be nomber 3 there was a man in comp D died yesterday our men is geting along well dear Wife we expect a atact here I wrote in my letter yesterday that we was caled out jest for to see how quick we could get out we have got orders to fall out evry morning at three oclock we got up in line of Battle and laid on our arms till morning want that fun our pickets had a hard squirmish yesterday one of our boys was over they poot some cavelry acros in the after noon and they made a charge on the rebs and took five prisners and kild too and took six horses and had five kild we cleaned them out good we dont have eny drill this forenoon we have got to get out at three oclock till the order is changed I did not get eny male last night I think we shal get some to night I ought to be to / to be asleep in stead of writing the colnels Wife came hear last night there is a good meny of the oficers wifes hear they are ought evry night a rideing horseback with a white fether in thear hat I tell you dear they look good. I wish it was so you could come bot you know how it is we have got a dauter we think evrthing of and it would be exposeing you and her to a onhelthy climate and you know my positun haint big anough to alow you to come I think I shall be home before snow flies you know I thought I should come hom by the first of september I shant give it up yet I think my box will come to night I dont know. March 20 Dear Lib it is morning and I will write some more we got up this morning at three oclock we expect to have fun evry day we had too more men dy yesterday and one this morning Dear Lib I recieved too letters from you last night and they was good ones o it does mee good to read your letters I see rozill started the letter / and backed out and I am glad she did back out one of your letters was dated feb 26 and the other was 3 you did write good I read them over and over and I can hear them fireing cannon up to the fort I dont know what it mounts to I am in hopes they will try us on if they dont find a warm time I will give up they are trying to cut of our sopplies you will see on that map I sent you I dont know as it is on it after all there is a bio on the railroad 6 mild from hear and they have got a gun boat above hear and we think they in tend to run down and burn that bridge and hold the ground if they can we are on a ilond here it is a hard place for them to atact we can wip twice our nomber bot we dont know what they will do enway I am redy for my share Dear Lib I got a pass yesterday and went to town I got there jest time anough to see the paroled prisners our provost marshal preoled them and took them acros onder a flag of truse there was one lieut he was a smart felow he sed we had yoused him well and if he ever took eny of us he would try and youse us well he sed all he asked for was to be exchanged he will be in too or three dayes he sed he should have another white horse we took his horse he had a fine horse white the other three fore men / looked affly and they did not want to fight they was forsed in the servis conscripts they wont fight I am glad the box laid in new york for it is colder there than it is hear I guess I shall get it to night you spoke abought that toller note I am glad you spoke abought I had forgot that note you most pay that I dont think you ought to pay fool intris bot pay it the money you get I dont know what you had beter do with it it ought to be in intris be shure and not loose it. I want to know what you youse and how motch you let out you sed Charles Walch rote home that our comp rote broke and run I think that is mean if it was so I would not write so abought his comp the rebs line broke and run and we went allmost doble quick after them that was the way we run right after them I want you to tell barb abought this I think they have got all they can tend too I cant see that they had motch of a victry they did not take eny prisners we took a 100 prisners and destroid a mighty good gunboat for the rebs it is bad anough god knows without eny one blowing I think that co E in the 130 haint one bit beter then co H in the 160 some times men haf to run bot we haint seen that
