Matthew S. Austin to Russell Austin, 25 November 1863
Camp 5th W.V.Vols.
Brandy Station
Nov. 25, 1863
10 P.M.
Dear Father
we are still in camp but have rec'd orders to move at 5 A.M. to-morrow, & as the weather is clear & cold, the roads will no doubt be in good condition.
Rain fell so as to stop the move of a few days ago.
We are all in good condition. what the move will be is hard to tell now. Germania Ford on the Rapidan is said to be our destination. I do / know if such be the case.
Of course there is good deal speculation.
I hope to be able to say we are all safe from harm.
And send love to all at Trenton,
I am
very truly
M.S. Austin
