David and I is well we are not at green river we came down yesterday we had hardly got here when we hird the rattle of guns and the roaring of cannin on the other side of the river in les than one minute the hole army was on the move we went as fast as we could but before we got thare the rebbels had run thare was only one redgment on ower side engaged they was from Indiana state and was all dutch they was garding the bridge when they was attactted by the rebbels they drove them back the rebbels left 50 dead on the field ower / side lost 10 killed and several wounded I saw 4 of ower dead in a waggon the first men ever I saw killed in war it was the firs time that we was called out to fight and I tell you the excitement was prety big ower redgment stayed at the bridge all night with 7 others put the rebbels did not come back
 
            we have very fine wether here the night is frosty and the dayes very warm and nice we are very buisy to day and I have not time to writ mutch we have lost 2 men out of ower company with sickness we are now going out to shoot ower guns of I will write as soon as I get time so good by George Langdon
