Sandusky November the 3 1861
Dear friend Lib
I take this opertuni oportunity of sending you a few lines to let you know that reached Sandusky safe Lib you must exkeuse me for not comeing to bid you goodby for I had thought of coming friday morning but I did not get to town untill about one oclock and then I had to go and see Sister Lib I went by your house but I was afraid to stop for fear of loosing the train it was threating rain when I left Newark but it came down when we got to Mansfield. it rained and the wind blew very har when I got to Sandusky and it continued up to the presant hour so you may know that it makes evry thing look gloummy Mrs Stewart is verry kind to me I think that I will like it verry / well here the house is verry convenient the wood and water are very handy I think that I will be verry lonesom for a while. oh how I wish you would come up here to live this winter. I exspect that the folks will think that I disapeaed verry suden it semes to me that I did for I had no thought of comeing when I saw you last but we dont know what a day may bring forth Lib I want to know if you have herd from Reese Jones since I saw you. thar is a verry larg camp ground near Mansfield I could see the little white tents pitch all over it from the cars and see thare fire a blasing. I cannot tell you any thing about Sandusky this time for it was as dark as a pocket when I road from the depot to the house and I have not bin on the street since Mr Stewart met me at the depot
Lib I am a going to ask a favor of you it is to ask at the post offis for me and if you get any letters plese to send them to me and I will pay you back what it will cost. Give my love to your Sister Jane and all inquiring friends and except the same for yourself and do write back soon. no more at presant this from your friend
