Newark July 14/62

            Dear Friend Bill,
I received your letter and was glad to here from you, though it had been a long time coming. I was sorry to here that you had not been well, as we all consider health the greatest of blessings. I am sorry you did not receive my first letter, but if any body has taken it, I hope it will do them lots of good, and hope they will be treated in the same way, at some future time. the weather has been very warm here to for a while but we must put up with it, I suppose.

Monday eve. the 21 This letter I comenced a week ago but have not had time to write since as I have been at one of the neighbors houses staying for sevral nights, but I am now at home again.

I have been washing to day but I will finish this ere I go to bed. I have not seen Dan since the day I came down so I have no country news. The Fourth was a very dry day here there was not even fier works in the evening, which I never new them to miss before. the day I spent at home and worked till three then there was a little company went a short distance out of town and if you had hird them, you would have thought the Penitanciary had got loos we stade an hour and returned home and I to work as we had company I think Anna & Hattie Lewis enjoyed them selvs very well. there was a little company or party given them before they left. I was in the country yesterday to dinner with a friend of mine that went a way to day. How is the little colt I suppose it has been lots of trouble to you as we was while we stade / but I hope the next time Danl will have better luck. I enjoyed my self as well as could be expected. Sister Jane was delighted with the visit, as this was her first visit She is well and is at the same plase yet. I think she will be a good girl yet, with a little care There is some talk of drafting now dayes, but I hope not we are expecting the Delaware Minister to be at our Church next Sabbath. Our Church has given Mr Price a call, but have not received a decided answer yet, but hope to soon. I hope to go home when you come. Jane & I think we could go home best at the usual time. As I hate to ask to go so often, I am bound to come on Saturday, and stay till Monday if not a week. Our familey is large, and it is not very convenient for me to get a way much / But I think I can get a girl in my plase I live on Main Street, and not quite two blocks from the Cort hous, the name is Weaver. But I am a frade I could not make your visit pleasant for you. I am at work all the time nearly, unles it is Sunday and then at meal time. I should be sorry to have you come all the way and not have a good time. If you did come, I think you had better come to Dans and then come down earley Sunday morning. When I was at Mr Stones I could make it pleasant for any body, but now I cant half of the time. I should be glad to see you all and hope you have got my first letter ere this

Is Sam's familey there now I feel a shamed of this letter, but I have been so long, so I must send it as it is this time and will do better the next time
love to all and hope to here from you soon
