Island O                      Aug 6th/1863

            Dear Sister Libbie
I received your most welcomed letter this morning and indeed I was very glad to hear from you when I opened my letter just immagine my surprize at finding the photograph of my dear sister Elibbie in it

You have no idea how glad I am for it I thank you very much for it

Your letter is full of interest always but more so than ever this time You meant big Lizzie Jones from Columbus did you not I wish you would let me know what Will Jones married old Davey Davis's Dinah or Hannah

Lieut J. Reep is in the 22nd Regt O.V.I. is he not

I received a letter from Brother Dan last Sunday morning they were all well when he wrote Father and Mother were well
Sister Elibbie I hardly know who my acquaintance are at Newark but I guess they are not very many in numbers

A continued letter is very interesting

I hope you enjoyed your buggy ride for they are very good amusement to go buggy riding

Yes my dear Sister I have those photographs but they are all out now but I will try to borrow one for you I will have more in a few days

I will not write to that person more than once morethat shall wind it up.

I have not heard from R either. I guess they have (what we called soured) on me. They have not written for over a month.

I never have been thanked by Miss Kate James for stealing that picture for her. I guess she has forgotton all about that

I have turned off nearly all of my correspondents and I am now getting lonesome if you see any person that wishes to correspond a line or two just send them along

One of the Columbus boys wrote a letter and put my name to it to Columbus and got a letter in answer wrote again and says he is agoing to get me a picture next time

We had about 400 of Morgan's officers here but we sent 52 to the Columbus Penitentiary 168 to Pittsburg Pa.

We have about 200 of his men here yet. We are having a first rate time now one Company is gone to Pittsburg with Rebs

I guess it will be my turn in the kitchen to morrow again We had a fine rain yesterday and last night too but it is very warm this afternoon

I hope the war will not last long so I can come home and stay and get a good time generally
