der brother and sister I take my pen in hand to let you know that I well at this time and hope when thes feu lines come to hand tha will find you all in goying the best of helth I hav jest heard from home and tha all well when I heard from them Jhon guin is dead he died at richmond and brother Jim and Landrum is well at this time Jo brown is well guin is well by the goods of god wee all ben spard threw all the battles wee are looking fore a fite hear now I want to know all about henry and tell me whare he is and tell me wher to rite to him and I will rite to him farther is well when I herd from him times hard hear now I want you to rite and let me know how you arer a geten a longe and let me know all the news that is goin in that country so turn over

our camps arer fredicks brug & bout sixty miles from richmond wher the fite wase and wee arer looking for a nother fite hear now I want to see you mity bad and I hope to god that wee will all meat a gain on this earth but if wee never meat on earth no more I hope to meat you in heven where parting is no more so nothing more at prents [?] I remained your true brother untill deth M M Riddle to Siles Riddle and family rite soon as you can excuse my bad hand rite and bee shore and rite to mee if you will rite to me and let me hear that you gote this leter next time I rite I will tell you all about the war if I live so far well
