May the 11 1863 camp ner fredicks
 
bruge VA        My dear brother and sister it is with pleser that i rite you a few lines to let you know that i am not well at this time but i hope when this letter come to hand it will find you all well and me well
 
i recived your cind letter your cind letter wich give mee great pleser to hear from you and to hear that you was well and done well i recived a letter from home the other day and tha was all well at that time elis cheek is dead hee did died at ad[?] with the fever times is hard hear now wee dont gite hardly enny thing to eat so turn over 
 
crathren is well at this time and ther famely is well at this time wee hav jest had a hard battle hear and wee lost a heepe of men in the battle old stone wall is dead hee gote kill by havinge his arm taken of from a wone but by the goods of god wee haf ben speard threw all the battle
 
Jhon bramblet is well but excuse my bad rite for i am sick Jim is sick now i mean your too sons so i most bringe my short letter to a close hoppe to hear from you soon May god bless you for evere is my prayr write soon and i will rite ever time you are direct your letter jest like you did bee fore and rite all the nuse
