Dear Father it is with plesure that I take the present opportunity of droping you a few lines to let you know that I am well greatley hoping these lines may find you all well and doing so. I have nothing much to write at present I recieved your letter to day yesterday and was glad to hear from you and to hear that you was doing well I would like to se you the best in the world but I cannot now but I hope the time will soon com when we all will be permited to meet again but if we never meet on earth again I hope we will meet in heaven where parting nor war is no more but peace for ever tell Pery and matison that I havent got time to write to them now but I will be fore long there has bin a regular rore of cannons all day to day at Vixburg and yesterday two and they are at it every day there has bin thousands of men kild thar now and the fight is not over yet So I must close hoping to hear from you soon
