Dear Father
                                    I again take the opportunity of droping you a few by which you will learn that I am well hoping these lines may reach and find you all well I have nothing much to write at present I have not got a letter from you yet you sholey dont write or I would one sometime I have not had but one letter from you since the Battle Jackson Miss and I would like to hear from you and tell ant Mary to write to me or I will git after her when I come home and if you will let me know what Post office uncle Oby Childress lives at I will write to him & then as to the condeshion of the army I can tell you no more a bout it than common we are still lieing around Chattanooga a looking at the yankees as always and no prospects of geting a way from here and another thing I tell you ration is a giting short shore
