Feb 1th 1864
Dear mother it is with pleasure that I take my pen in hand this morning to drop you a few lines to let you no that me and famley is well hoping these few lines may find you well and dooing well I havent any news to write to you I received a letter from James yesterday and he was well when the letter was rote well mother I will have to apoligis to you for not writing before now but I dont hardly no how to go about it but in the forst place I was very badley wounded and taken a prisner and during that time I could not write but I was parold and sent home and I am here yet I have not bin exchanged yet and I dont expect to go back until I am exchanged and I cant tell when that will be so if you want / to see me if you will come you can git to see me again that is if you come before I go back and I think you can if you will come pretty soon if you can for I have no way to come to see you and I want to see you very bad it has bin some time sence I last saw you I want you to see my little daughter any how she is rite good looking any way you can take her. I want to see all of the children very bad you must all write to me and let me here from you soon tell Sister to write to when you write direct yours to B[?] SC I want you to come over to williams and let me no that you are thare and I will come up and see you
well I must close for the present so nothing more at present
