Camel island July the 9th 1862
 
Dear brother I again seat my self to let you no that I am sick this morning but hope thes fiew lines may find you all well I want to see you verily bad but I dont expect I ever will see you any more but if I do ever liv to go threw the war I will com to see him you tell henry if he has to come to the army / most come hear and be with the re[paper torn]
 
of us you must rite to me as soon as you get my letter so nothing more at the present only good by dear brother and family M. Riddel To Silas Riddel
