I once more [paper hole] opertunity of droping you afew lines to let you [hole] I am well hoping these lines may find you well we left Murfreesboro last Sunday was a weak ago and lay in line of battle tell wensday at one oclock and then was march down the river and was orderd to unsling knapsacks and [paper hole] the river and formed a line a mile and [paper hole] then rested about 10 [paper hole] and the [paper hole] amile and a half [paper hole] there we [paper hole] there we fit for [paper hole] the enemy had [paper hole] us and the grape [paper hole] shels and balls fell so thick around us we could hardley see [paper hole] to giv back for awhile and then
enemy [paper hole] without [paper hole] many men I was knocked down with a shell and was cenceless for some time [paper hole] the next Friday we was in a larger fight than the first and now we are retreating and I do not no where we will git to be fore we stop you kneed not to right tell I right again for I do not no where we will be I want you to fix a pair of [paper hole] slips and a shirt and have them redy to [paper hole] lost every thing we had except [paper hole] was [paper hole] in the fite they [paper hole] Murfreesboro [paper hole] must close by saying I [paper hole] your friend &c
