the fortification of City washington are brestworks Starting at the river at south east end of town runing in shape of a half moon a long the north east side of the town to the river north west of town one large ford at the senter of the brestworks also some thirty short brestworks runing in from the main brestworks about 25 yards long. there is a rais of ground about ½ a mile from brestworks about 10 or 15 feet hier then the ground is where the town starts all round town the Rebles occupied
