Friday March 24th 1865
I have neglected keeping up track of things for sometime but there has been very little of any importance going on. We have been twice reviewed, once by Genl. Wright & once by Genl. Meade. we have had a good deal of rain, but for the last two weeks it has been quite pleasant—for the last few days it has been very dirty dusty but today it is pleasant again. We have been having Batallion & Company drills when the weather permitted. The Rebs have been quiet in our front.
Saturday 25th
Pleasant day a little chilly cold night.
There has been a good deal of heavy firing on our right during the night & morning. Ordered to break up pull down tents & went to the Fort about 8 o'clock. Stayed there all day The picket line was reinforced & a charge made on the Rebs about noon but we failed to drive them, then the whole Division was sent out & drove them out in front of our Brigade at half past three o'clock PM, taking a good many prisoners My? Company went out as reserve on the picket line after dark stayed all night no firing on the lines after dark.
