Marched through Columbia. Took the cars about 12 o'clock, six cars for the Regiment. A very poor locomotive, stopped at every up grade, compelled to cut rails to get up steam. Very rainy at first, then intensely cold. Many of the men frozen stiff. Stopped overnight in Zollicoffer House. Only 5 stoves, no glass in the windows. A terribly rough experience.
