In store all day. Young went to Tipton Played at Lakes Hall in night got 4.00 for it. 48 numbers sold. good time.

Cold & raw all day.
looked like storm all day.
Lake took up Boyles boys & Milligan & Wm Crum for disturbing dinner. In store all day. fixed dry good side in P.M.

Cool & cloudy Helped load car of wheat & cleaned some Horace helped & then went home he took Father $5 for pork Swetland sick & did not go home Young went & Parsons played in band in evening

Great battle in Kentucky Fort Donaldson taken & 15 000 prisoners property to the amt of $1,500,000 taken

Warm & pleasant all day. stayed on levee till 3 PM when we got our tents & mchd to barracks & pitched them in front of 101st Ills. Infty. Got colder in night. Co H fell in & guards 1000 prisoners & Correll got back to Quarters by 1½ AM sent letter to Anna by J.S.
 
Tuesday, 25.
 
Cold & raw all day, around town most of day so cold that I could not write
101st Ill moved down river in PM on Adriatic
we moved in their quarters
Cap Officer of day.
 
Wednesday, 26.
 
Cool but very pleasant

Cap Phil Cap Dixon & myself went to theatre in evening

Cold & raw. Sold watch to Spencer for parts & what I was owing him & $6 in money to be paid when he gets it

Warm & pleasant all day
worked most of day at books

Warm but cloudy all day. went to church in AM to see J Malin in PM.
comcd raining in evening rained most of night then came off cold & windy. saw [?]
 
December, Monday, 1.
 
Cold raw & muddy. Boat fired at 3 times but did not stop with Iowa 34th on board. Cap went to see Provost Marshall to see about bench for me

Splendid day warm & pleasant wrote to Em Snyder & worked at books most of day. Battery fired into Northern & brot her back wrote to Doc in AM
 
Thursday, 4.
 
Pleasant all day worked making out T McMillers paper of discharge. recd letter from Anna. went to theatre in evening Othello & Desdemona & in evening out drilling the town in PM
 
Friday, 5.
 
Warm & pleasant all day.
worked at books all day
went to theatre in evening

Cool but clear all day
worked at books some & around town some Jip Patterson here on his way to Corinth
to theatre in evening. Jack Shepherd was the play. Man killed with a knife [faded] walked rope up town

Cold but clear & pleasant went up river to see Mortar boats in AM. wrote to Anna & to J in PM

part of our Co & part of Co B went on ferry boat to Birds Point. stayed all day. went to theatre 24 of us. Cap paid for us we are to pay when we get some money.
