out to rout the enemy and a detachment of Cav. and at 2 o.c. PM orders came to the 25th to get ready in ten minuets with one days rations to reinforce the 17th we lost no time

to have [?] days rations in our haversacks and eighty rounds of cartrigs and be ready to march at 4 o.c. AM on the 27th we did not move out till 8 o.c. we then marcht a north west course all quiet for 4ms

there we came up with the Reb body and 600 men and 8 pieces of art. A & F was order out as skirmishers we moved on firing at them and they returned the fire we moved on for 10ms they retreated

and kep up a fire all the time for about 8ms the 1st Ohio Cav. made a charge on them and routed them at 10ms. We halted for diner we lay for 1 hour and the Col. long came

up with one Briggade of Cav. A & F was relieved we then moved on 2ms and the Rebs planted there Bat. on a hill and made a stand we then moved up with the 2ond Ills Batr. D. and planted

it the 25th supported them the 17th N.Y. in our rear 32ond Wis. in there rear the Cav. on dismounted and took there position on the left they then opend up on us we exchained shot with
