Nicholas Llewellyn Northington
Nicholas Llewellyn Northington was born around November 1827 in Montgomery County, Tennessee, to David Northington and Charlotte Carney. His father was a farmer who owned $5,000 of real estate in 1850. Northington grew up in Montgomery County and began work as a physician by 1850. He married Mannie Burns in Clarksville, Tennessee, on July 20, 1852, and their daughter Edmonia was born around 1854. They lived in Montgomery County, and in 1860, they owned $6,200 of real estate and $10,100 of personal property, including at least 13 enslaved laborers. A decade later, they owned $14,000 of real estate and $3,000 of personal property. He became postmaster of Clarksville in the early 1890s, and by 1900, he was also serving as a county trustee. He died in Montgomery County around January 1901.
