Dear Sister
I now sit down to write you a few lins to let you know that I was well an hope you are the same wee are at fairfax Station it is a bout a mile from the Court house wee doe not have any thing to doe but shoot at a target evry day 5 or 6 shots a day wee doe not have to dril any now I doe not any news to write Albert Harris an myself recived a box of provsions from home a few days ago I tell you that is what make the boys feel well I have not recived any letters from you for a good whill I recived one from home a few days ago I am a going to get a pass to go to Washington I doe not know how I shal succeed / wee are about 25 miles from Washington I wan to go out an see some of the gals I have not seen any since left Camp Vermont I can not think of any more only I am well an the rest of the boys in our Company
