Louisa (?) to Parna J. Crist, 2 June 1872
Plainfield June 2nd /72

Dear Friend Parna
As I have written so lately to your brother I thought I would address this letter to you I wanted to write and tell you that Sams folks have another daughter about a week old we have not seen any of them Some of the neighbors was telling Harvey at the store I should think this would discourage them. the rest of the folks are all well I believe we have not heard a word from Thomas this summer. Harvey wrote to him and sent his & Mannies pictures the same time he sent one to your brother. he never answered it then I wrote to him but that is all it amounted to. last night I dreamed he came here and we were all so glad to see him. Mary came up Friday / night with Charley & Ella went back to day from church. I went and sat with her in church this morning She told me her folks had company last night. I asked her who's she said Tom Brown, the one that was here when Sam was married. he came to church with Tommy but I did not get to speak to him they say he has been back home ever since he left here untill within the last two years. Wain has a great time about the bloody cousin she thinks an Irishman is the lowest of the low. We have a splendid minister now I like him better every time I hear him we cannot have him but four months that is the worst of it he has to go back to finish his studies. they have lost one child, but are expecting another every day now. I am kept so busy these days I have scarcely time to sleep I made a dress for Mary last week and one for an other Lady. I have an elegant / Japanese silk in the shop now to make and a calico suit for she that was Nell Barnes the silk is for a Lady that lives where Herrick used to. Clara Pratts husband has bought Tommy Thompsons residence and Tommy has bought Frank Bartletts place Bartlett intends to move to Iowa to Vinton where old man Beebe lives and Ad Bartletts Allen Mr Pratt has been up town every day lately but he looks bad yet. poor man it was a close call for him.

Wain & Mannie went to Joliet in the buss Friday went to Hunters & Things the Fore Paw circus was there Friday they all went. Wain came back Saturday afternoon on the buss.

Lib has got her rag carpet wove Wain went over and helped her make the one for the sitting room. Oh have you heard Bell Hard has a young son Alicia wrote to Millie about it. / It must be five or six weeks old by this time. Lee you had better be a little carefull how you handle horses they are risky things. Is Julia in Durant yet if you see her give her my love I ought to write to her but my time is all taken up I try to get to the shop at seven or half past. then I just come to my meals and at night get home nine or ten oclock. Friday night I sewed untill twelve or one so I could finish a dress that I had promised Saturday. I have had Hat Dexter helping me but I have to pay her a doller a day and that takes of the profits well I find news to be rather scarce so I will close hoping you will all write soon, and tell me all the news; I remain yours as ever.
Louisa.
