My friend Louisa yours of the 2d May came to hand to day I was much pleased to hear from you once more, also that you are well, hoping you may continue so. I am well The weather is cool and dry, mud knee deep. I recd a letter from Sister Lizzie to day. She intends getting married soon

I am much pleased to hear that you excuse me, for things I done in the past. I would love to see you once more, to talk to you and go to singing school you seem to think the girls and boys are getting all married, that will be a pity. the poor soldiers must stand back, when they come home.

we have had another desperate battle, but thank God I am safe. I feel sorry that you cant hear from poor Henry. I have not heard from him in a long time I hope the war will soon be over so we can all come home to stay. I am getting tired of the soldiers life.

I must close soon. tell me when you write who your beaux is and all the good news

dont forget to write, my best respects to all your friends, from your friend
