My friend Louisa, yours of the 22 came to hand finding me well, hoping that you are all the same. we have had marching enough for the last two weeks. we have went over 100 miles. if we can come homeward as fast for another week we will be at home.

I expect to write the next letter to you from Penna I hope so at least. I am glad that you have heard from your brother Henry. I would love to see him and all of the boys. I suppose you are all frightened to hear of the Rebels being in Penna But dont be afraid they must soon go back to their own side of the house.

well I suppose you have some fine times going to church and all these places of enjoyment I hope you may all enjoy yourselves, and when the war is over the soldiers can help I cant write you a long letter and you must excuse my poor paper. I could not get any other. the mail is ready to go and I must close. please answer and tell me all the news from your friend
