Friend William,
Your letter was received by me yesterday. I have been to Sunday school to day Will I suppose you think I am a great girl or a Sunday Christain doing all my letter writing on Sunday. I never use to write on Sunday when I have time to write on week day. I am alone and I have not time to write in the week. But I do not think there is any harm in writing on Sunday do you? This is the third letter for to day when I get to writing I do it up in a hurry. Will I know you do not think that picture is good. I do not see how you can think so, for I really think it is the ugliest picture I ever did see. Now I will tell you what I will do I will try to have a / better one taken this summer. But it is a hard case to have a pretty picture of an ugly face do you not think so? now I will finish my first subject. Then I will give you one, you will then give me the ugly one back wont you? I will hold the ugly one for an exhibition you will attend wont you? I think that way I can make enough to pay for the pretty ones dont you think so. I guess I will say like the dutchmen now for something else
the 28th of this month we will have communion at our Church. I herd to day that Silas was coming home next week he and all the rest of the company were discharged I wish you were coming next week
I think your company will be discharged to do you not think so? The war is ove so they say. I saw two of your sisters to day they did not inquire about you and I did not tell them anything. I spoke to both of them Rheuben is not well the Doctor / was attending him all last week. I believe he has a sore on one of his limbs he is better now. I was to Sunbury yesterday through all the rain we got a good soaking before we got home. Our spring flowers are beautiful I will send you a bouquet.
Rebecca and Lucinda sends there best respects to you and all the rest. Old Mrs Yerdy is dead she was 87 years old she had 27 grand children and 37 great grand children. Old Mr Person is dead he died a few weeks ago. I do not know wether that name is spelled rite or not, but I do not think it is. his son was in the Army he came home sick he lys at the point of death probably he is dead by this time. Papa is getting along rite well.
Come home as soon as you can, write soon.
I still remain your true friend. Ellen Row
