Home Saturday 27th May 1865.
Dear Will:
I recd your letters dated 24 & 25 this month, last evening also Papa got one from Joe. we were so glad to hear from you and looked for the letters before they came.
I have not time to write much as 'tis Saturday morning, but will write tomorrow (miss spelled) tomorrow again.
We are glad that Joe is no trouble to you. we knew that he would enjoy the visit. You make too much fuss over Joe, you will spoil him. he is a smooth tongued rogue and will get along in camp. tell him to keep his hands and face clean.
I am so lonesome without you, I don't know what to do with myself. Mag comes often and Sallie and Geeslers girls have been down. I must quit as I have so much to do this morning.
You say you think of the 2nd July so does some one else.
I will be ready till then and if your circumstances forbids your coming then, I am ready at any time after the 2nd. I have told papa and mother they will make arrangements for then. I will tell you more tomorrow. I wish I were with you.
please write soon often
Your true and affectionate
Laura
Make Joe take care of himself and obey you.
