My Affectionate Laura,
A line to inform you that we arrived here late this morning. Dr Gross will operate on Grier & Jons at noon tomorrow. he says tis nothing serious, not as bad as before, and will cure Jons in a short time. he examined me and laughed, he said it was nothing dangerous but I should have it taken out before long. I will write again as soon as the operation is performed and tell you all about it. dont be alarmed as I am confident all will be well. I am tired I have been swiming around all day. I bought our parlor carpet, which I am sure will please you, a Brussels of the best style. Also two oil shades for the parlor windows. I paid $2.00 per yd. & $2.00 apiece for the shades. I also bought our furniture. I did not get a sofa nor spring cussion chairs as they were too high. it consists of a lounge, 6 cane chairs with a sewing chair, bed stead, wash stand wot not / [?] with mirror and round walnut stand. Also a large looking glass and spread for stand. I will send all I can up on Saturday. Ask your Pap to take it out of the cars.
