Dear Laura, I am lonely this evening I put Lilly and Hermie in the little trunnel bed tired and sleepy sweetly dreaming of Mother dear, anxiously waiting her to come home sighing and saying she stays so long. Why Papa says one She has been gone fourteen hours yes a hundred. I am going to sleep with puss to night, papa wont you help take off my coat untie the string tis in a bow knot, with thumb in mouth son Hermie is unconscious as to what is going on with Lilly and papa them little peepers in the cradle wont stay shut, singing Pa, Pa, Ma, Ma. I know whats the matter pap dont sing and rock hard enough, but now our tired busy little lady has forgot to sing, fast asleep in baby dreams, guarded by angels and tenderly silently and affectionately watched by her pap, pap, pap.

My sweet little girl sleep soundly your Mother is thinking of your her little angel and knows that papa will care for you
