John C. Thurston
John C. Thurston was born around 1866 in Pennsylvania to William and Laura Thurston. His father was a blacksmith who owned $1,500 of real estate and $200 of personal property by 1870. He grew up and attended school in Sunbury, Pennsylvania, and by 1900, he was working as a telegraph operator. He immigrated to Canada in the early 1900s and settled in Toronto. He married Alfretta Smith, and they apparently had no children. His wife died on March 23, 1932, and he died in Toronto on July 29, 1940.
