Selah Savage
Selah Savage was born on January 15, 1807, in Connecticut to Selah Savage and Roxy Galpin. He married Sarah M. Mead in Greenwich, Connecticut, on September 3, 1838, and they had at least two children: William, born in 1842; and Roxy, born around 1855. The family lived in Greenwich, and Savage worked as a farmer. In 1850, he owned $7,500 of real estate and employed at least two other workers on his farm. A decade later, he owned $7,050 of real estate and $1,400 of personal property, and he employed at least one white servant. By 1870, his property had grown in value, and he reported $10,000 of real estate and $2,000 of personal property. He retired from work sometime in the 1870s, and he remained in Greenwich for the rest of his life. He died there on January 13, 1894.
