Dear Let
Having time this morning I will write you a short letter for fear you may think I have forgoten you but not so I have not heard from you or home for some weeks but on the account of not being at the brigade and no hopes of going very soon it may be 4 weeks before we go there things moove off slow here and fiew men to moove them the most of the men have the ague and chill fever and it did not escape me but I stoped it in its infantcy / so it didnot effect me much but there being so many sick it makes it harder on those that are not we cannot geet men to fill their places but it is hoped that the sickness will soon be over as the weather is some cooler than it has been for some time back
Well Let as for nuse I have none I thought some times I would be home to tell you the nuse myself but it looks doubtfull at times but we will live in hopes if we die in dispair there has been an application sent in to Sheraden for our Regt to be musterd out but have not heard from it yet so I cannot tell any thing about it at present but I heard that it is reported in the cincinnatta commercial that / the 4th Corps was to be relieved by collard troops and regulars hope such is the fact but have heard so much about such thing we cannot believe them I suppose the folks in ohio are looking for their troops home soon but many of them will have to look in the grave if they see them it seams some times that the commanders of the corps thought we had to many men alive yet I think this will finish the 4th Corps I hope they will all geet their commitions and be satisfied
I suppose your Pa has his harvesting done long before this and all stored away in that new barn I expect thing will be changed so I will no know the place if ever I geet home there is many changes in Auburn many have died others have left for other places of abode
Let I must close as I am in poor condition for writing to day but hope you will be satisfied with this as you well know that I tallent is not fully developed and very little chance of the better I hope to hear from you often my best wishes to all
I am your ever devoted Husband
Frank Ashley
